Last weekend I was having some pain in my back- something that doesn't feel better if you rub it, and hurts worse walking- especially uphill. So, I mentioned it to the nurse and doctor last Monday... and they knew EXACTLY what I was talking about. It is the SI joint, where the sacrum meets the pelvis... and its painful to other pregnant women too. During pregnancy your body releases a hormone called Relaxin to "relax your joints" for a better delivery. As the Dr. put it- awesome for childbirth, not so much for back pain. It causes other muscles to relax and causes abnormal friction and pain.
She said to manage it with Tylenol and a heating pad. And there are some back strengthening exercises I can do.
All in all, I'm still not complaining! I feel great and I couldn't be more excited to be carrying our son.
